TYPEFACE

ANIMATIONS

For my Typography course assignment, I crafted two animations to embody the essence of the selected typefaces, Snell Roundhand and Noteworthy Light. They were designed to complement each other seamlessly, adding depth to the project's creative expression.

I crafted two animations to animate the selected typefaces. The initial animation focused on Snell Roundhand, renowned for its calligraphic elegance. My affection for Snell Roundhand stems from its cursive nature, which aligns with my preference for faster, more efficient, and aesthetically pleasing writing. However, adapting its uppercase letters for readability posed a challenge. Opting for the word "flourish" in this animation captured the essence of the typeface's graceful movement. The concept of flourishing mirrors a journey of self-discovery, where authenticity is pivotal. Hence, I aimed for an organic flow in the illustrations, akin to the non-linear path of self-discovery experienced by young adults, reflected in my animation.

For this project, I selected "wilt" as my second word, contrasting with "flourish." The concept for the transition animations stemmed from envisioning the word as a fading plant. I visualize "wilt" as embodying a decaying, drooping sensation akin to a wilting plant. It signifies the loss of vitality and vibrancy inherent in "flourish." Through the transitions, I aimed to convey the shrinking of the word, mirroring how flowers wilt with changing seasons—a poignant yet necessary process for renewal. Despite the stark visual disparity between the themes and illustrations due to the opposing word meanings, they are subtly interconnected. I opted for the typeface Noteworthy Light for "wilt," drawn to its loose lettering, which aptly symbolize the gradual wilting process.
