PAINITINGS

A curated collection of my favorite commissioned works including a mix of acrylic, oil, and mixed media pieces.

whimsical

oil on 24 x 36 inch canvas

A tribute to Claude Monet my favorite painter. I have always gravitated towards his work. In my painting, I have depicted the clock in my style while trying to mimic the style in which Monet painted in the rest of the painting. I taped the edges and left the corners dramatically unfinished in an attempt to symbolize how none of Monet’s works towards the end of his life were ever finished. The painter was “running out of time” in a sense because he was diagnosed with cataracts and was slowly losing his sight. He painted his garden rigorously each day. Every painting becomes more and more a muddled whirlwind of colors. I represented this by painting over an ever-ticking clock. The clock is unconsciously present in his later painting and I am bringing it into the foreground in my piece.

book

oil on 24 x 36 inch canvas

My mother has always loved books and passed that love of reading on to my brother and me from a young age. I wanted to create something for her that I knew she would love and convey the magic of reading. Books hold the most captivating stories that can transport the reader to another time and place. They are truly magical. I painted this book so that it gives the appearance that it is coming to life, both metaphorically and physically. Books have a soul and when they are read, they keep stories alive for years to come. The book in my painting is open depicting a woman who is shrouded in mystery with white wisps emitting from the pages. The figure and book are connected creating a human anatomy, the brain in the sky, leading down the neck to the lungs. The lungs are the pages and they are full of life just as a good book is.

artist’s block

oil on 24 x 36 inch canvas

A visual representation of artist’s block. The hand in the painting is a full-scale painting of my own. The pure frustration of knowing that a good idea and creative inspiration are at the tips of your figure tips. You can see the light, but there is a barrier between you and your next big creative inspiration.

dare

An ironic interpretation of how two opposing concepts and ideas can exist in a space together. This painting was for an assignment and not intended to promote drug use.
